Flooded ShorePosted by Alistair Keddie (Glasgow, United Kingdom) on 19 December 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Gloomy overcast weather hangs over a remarkably still Loch Lomond, risen to flood after rain along its shore with stands of autumn oak reflecting in the dark and complex depths. I'd arrived hoping to capture some autumn colour amongst the oak woodlands that grow around the northern end of Loch Lomond but somehow the light just never came through. Instead of finding strong yellows, reds and golds, the day, and colours stayed resolutely monochrome with the shots looking much better in black and white. It was only in processing that I began to discover the full depth and complexity of vegetation surrounding the flooding loch. The rich range of tones in the grassland and foliage, lent by those muted autumn colours, and the incredible sub surface detail of drowned grass mixed up with reflected treetop adds an extra otherworldly dimension to the photograph. Welcome to big Alba photography and the fine art photographic work of Alistair Keddie, a photographer, artist and animated film maker from Scotland with a deep passion for photographing the landscape.
