Scattered ShorePosted by Alistair Keddie (Glasgow, United Kingdom) on 5 December 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Night falls in purple and rose over a rocky and surreal shore of scattered rock near Lendalfoot in Ayrshire, Scotland I've photographed this coast near Lendalfoot a number of times and am drawn back by the broken collection of rocks, skerries and boulders that lie close inshore and provide an endless variety of shooting. As with many westerly facing shores they really come to life as the sun sinks below the horizon and twilight begins to fall allowing for longer exposures and that magical misty water that washes between the rocks. I like the range of rock shapes and subtle variety of colour in this picture, from the round and polished blues of the foreground boulders with their white quartzite veins to the darkened purply black and broken horizon that somehow manages to echo the shapes of distant clouds. There's also a nice range of tone which manages to capture some of the delicate intensity of this pre darkness hour. MapASet by Brett Jones is a tool to map a single set of geotagged photos on flickr using google maps. It lets you to set your start location and creates link and embed codes for your site. It also shows a small scrolling display of thumbnails. Ideal for mapping landscape locations! I created this example from a set of my landscape shots here... big Alba's map Welcome to big Alba photography and the fine art photographic work of Alistair Keddie, a photographer, artist and animated film maker from Scotland with a deep passion for photographing the landscape.
