Stunning beach and dunes in the Outer Hebrides

North along the western edge of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides with the extensive coastal dunes lit strongly by late evening sun and looking towards the hills of Harris under streamers of white cloud.

The beach on the west coast of Berneray is possibly the finest in Scotland and I returned here after a previous year's visit with a clear idea of what I wanted from the magic and intense coastal light that falls on these islands of an evening in late July. The conditions on the first night were as close to perfect as this part of the world allows, with low slanting sun lighting the beach and dunes in a golden pinkish light, gently tinting the cloud streams above and painting the hills of Harris in the distance, the start of a long evening shooting in this unique and pristine environment in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.

Very dream photo. Nice shot here. Good composition on the colors. And the clouds looking like streaks really make the photo look dynamic, almost like its moving fast! Good job!

This is absolutely glorious! I feel somewhat ashamed that I haven't made it up to these parts yet as they are clearly stunning. It's a pleasure to view your shots, both as someone who appreciates what marvels nature has to offer, and as a Scot missing his home.

Having visited the beach in 2004, I can say this shot takes me straight back there. It's usually an empty stretch with little for company apart from the odd sea duck and the gannets diving in the distance...
